Gay rights activist Celina Jaitley has agreed to judge India’s first beauty contest for eunuchs. The Bollywood actress will sit on the panel for the India Super Queen contest next February. “It would be my privilege to judge a beauty pageant, which knows no bounds in terms of caste, creed and gender,” she announced.
Meanwhile, those who have seen previews of her latest movie Accident on Hill Road, have been issuing plaudits on her performance left, right and centre. Celina worked hard with actor Farooque Shaikh on setting the right tone for the dialogue in the movie. “We met first time for the workshops six months prior to the shoot of the film,” she explains, “We worked on voice modulation because it’s a real life story. We tried to keep it as real as possible. It all worked for the best.”
Celina will be a guest at the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) 10th anniversary gala this Friday, to be hosted by John Abraham. Celina has previously been part of a modelling campaign for them. “It is largely thanks to our celebrity friends and the countless people they have influenced that PETA India has been able to accomplish so much for animals over the past 10 years,” says Ingrid Newkirk of the PETA organisation.
