Ahmedabad resident Govind had always dreamt of owning a business. His friends Ish and Omi had other plans and have always had a passion for cricket, and so opened their own cricket store. Govind is a ‘make-a-quick-buck’ kind of man, whereas Ish wants to support Ali – the batsman with an exceptional gift – and his talent. And Omi? He just wants to be friends. But of course in a world where religion, politics and love all battle against each other, nothing is ever that simple. Can each of them strive to be successful? Or will it all come crashing down around their feet?
Above, is a synopsis of the novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, which is the next novel of award-winning author Chetan Bhagat set to be seen on the big screen, after the hugely popular Five Point Someone (3 Idiots) and the not so popular ‘One Night @ the Call Center’ (Hello) being adapted into films. This makes it a hat trick for Bhagat, as he has now had 3 out of 5 of his novels (till date) adapted into film.
The critically acclaimed director who brought you Aryan and Rock On!!, Mr. Abhishek Kapoor himself, is said to be both directing and writing the screenplay of the adaptation of Bhagat’s famous novel. The Dirty Picture’s very own heroine Vidya Balan has been rumoured to be playing Vidya, the character Ishaan’s younger sister and the love interest of the main protagonist in the novel, Govind. TDP’s very own stylist, Niharika Khan is also rumoured to be doing the styling of the actors in the film adaptation of ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’ stating that, ‘Very soon I will start working for Abhishek Kapoor’s film, a big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller ‘Three Mistakes of My Life’ “. Excel Entertainment’s Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwandi is said to be producing the film.
Ahmedabad is said to be the location of the shooting and Bhagat has also confirmed this on his Twitter, by saying “by the way, shooting for the 3mistakes of my life film goes on the floors in ahmedabad next month. Will tweet more soon..until then shhh…”.
Let’s hope that ‘3 Mistakes of My Life’ does better on the big screen than it did in paperback! Stay tuned for more news!
