On Friday, February 6th, Anurag Kashyap, will bring to the screen Dev D, starring Abhay Deol, Kalki and Mahi Gill. According to the official website, “Dev D is a modern-day interpretation of the classic novel Devdas by Sarat Chandra. Dev, Paro and Chanda of Dev D reflect the sensibilities, conflicts, aggression, independence, free though, exuberance and recklessness of the youth of today. A generation that is jammed in between eastern roots and western sensibilities.
Dev D is set in the rustic and colourful Pujab and also explores the dingy, morbid, dark underbelly of Delhi. From sprawling mustard fields to a riot of neon. It’s been written and directed byt Anurag Kashyap and produced by UTV Spotboy. “
Though Dev D is set in modern times and not 1917, the director wanted Abhay to go by the book for his character. In a interview with BollySpice.com, Abhay said, “Well, it is by the book and I tried my best. The director, Anurag also wanted me to go by the book so what I understood or what I intended is that he was fairly provoked.”
To read more of our interview with Abhay Deol, be sure to check back on Sunday!
