Recently released Hum Tum Aur Ghost saw an always vibrant Dia Mirza play first lead after four long years. The model-turned-actress who has primarily been part of ensemble casts or seen in cameo roles, believes she has benefitted from her role as Gehna in Arshad Warsi’s film but is in no way worried that she does not have any films at hand post-release.
The former Miss Asia-Pacific refuses to do a film purely for financial benefit, “Its quality over quantity for me now… You just want to do things that excite you, motivate you and make you go to work the next day”. Dia, who made her debut in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein opposite R Madhavan has always remained a popular star and received much love from the audiences.
It’s not a very well-known fact that Dia has been receiving offers for films which didn’t inspire her, forcing her to turn them down, “For the longest time, I’ve been getting offers in films that I didn’t want to be a part of… When you work for nine years you reach a stage when you don’t really want to push the buttons anymore…”
When asked whether, as with other actors in the industry, film production tickles her fancy, Dia reveals, “I’m not ready for it right now… Let’s see how things shape up.”
