Hot on the heels of the news that Britney Spears is setting off for Bollywood to work with choreographer Sandip Soparrkar, is the news that Justin Timberlake’s choreo Marty Kudelka is also looking to launch himself in the world’s biggest movie industry. “I have renewed my interest of working in Bollywood ever since Ken (Ghosh) gave me some tapes of Shahid Kapoor’s dance numbers,” says Marty, “I studied the genre of Bollywood dancing and I liked the way it was done. Ken asked me to come down and work with him. The next thing I knew, I am here.”
Marty has worked with some of the top names in the business including Janet Jackson, N’Sync, Pink and Mandy Moore and emphasises the trend in music video towards performance art as a means of enhancing and enriching the audio content. Marty will be working with Shahid Kapoor and the improving Jiah Khan on the movie Yahoo! “Shahid is one of the best dancers I have come across. He picks up the moves really fast,” Marty states, “Yahoo is all about dancing and Shahid plays a dance teacher. I have been given many situations by the director like the one I am working on right now, which, I am told, is the climax of the movie. It’s a dance competition and Jiah Khan is also in the scene.”
Meanwhile, Britney who has worked hard to get her career back on track, will be meeting up with Sandip Soparrkar in Jodhpur. “I’ll be meeting her for work only, when she visits Jodhpur,” explains Sandip, “We’ll just be doing a bit of rehearsals, since I am planning to do the rumba, which is the dance of love. Britney is really looking forward to coming to India.”
