Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine will see Kareena Kapoor donning as many as 130 outfits designed by ace designer and her close friend Manish Malhotra. A whopping 1.2 crore INR has been set aside as budget by the production house. Considering the subject of the movie, it is not a surprise to see this much being spent just on the costumes. Kareena Kapoor has previously donned the most extravagant labels sourced from Milan by Aki Narula for Kambakht Ishq (2009). She has categorically stated in her recent interviews that she wants to do cinema that has mass appeal and makes her look glamorous. Well what more could have Kareena asked than this new opus by Bhandarkar. It is being stated that each scene in the film will see her change as many as four outfits. Kareena portrays the role of a leading film heroine in this project.

The film is bound to be high on glamour quotient. Surely this must be an exciting project for Manish as well. He has previously designed costumes worth 5 lacs INR for Aishwarya Rai for her nine days shoot. It would be worth waiting to see what range of costumes he will be designing for this already hyped movie. Manish has also designed for other leading stars like Kajol, Preity, Rani, Sushmita, Aishwarya, Urmila and many others in the past and has a signature style in form of his free flowing anarkalis, tassled sarees and gorgeous lehengas. His latest work has been with Kareena for Bodyguard (2011) and the much talked about red saree in Chammak Challo song from Ra.One (2011).

Ideally this is one of the largest and a rather challenging project for both Manish and Kareena in terms of glamour quotient. Bhandarkar has a reputation for giving us films high on content and hope this venture also turns out be the same. Good luck to the team.
