Indian Cinema veteran and IIFA supporter, Anil Kapoor, was warmly welcomed by Ontario Premier, Darlton McGuinty on Monday 17th January. During the meeting, held at Queen’s Park, Ontario, the respected individuals discussed preparations for the forthcoming, star-studded International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards, which will be held in Toronto this June. The Academy announced Toronto as the host of the 2011 IIFA Weekend and Awards when Mr. McGuinty led a trade mission to India in 2009.

Anil Kapoor, who has appeared in over 100 Indian films as well as the multi Academy Award-winning, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, was further welcomed at the hotel lobby by dancers who performed a rendition of the film’s iconic title song, ‘Jai Ho‘. On meeting the Premier Anil said, “Premier McGuinty and the Province of Ontario have welcomed Indian cinema with open arms. We are grateful for the unique honour and look forward to celebrating our oneness and building bridges with a country that has always welcomed South Asians.”

The IIFA Weekend in Toronto will be a spectacular event, featuring extravagant performances and celebrities pouring in from the tinsel town of Indian Cinema. The event expects to attract nearly 40,000 visitors and is surely something that the fans should look forward to.
