Madhuri (Dixit) Nene and Anil Kapoor, two of the most successful actors of the Bollywood fraternity and one of the most sensuous couple who sizzled the big screen in the late 80’s and 90’s have decided to bury the hatchet between them and move on. Evidently, it was producer and director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who stepped in as the arbitrator and sorted out their differences.

The couple which had one of the most sizzling chemistries on screen were not on good terms for over a year now; an aftermath of the Dhak- Dhak girl moving out of Anil’s desi version of Freaky Friday citing date reasons. Ever since then, the two of them haven’t been in touch.

Madhuri was offered to play Jamie Curtis Lee’s character for the remake of the 2003 comedy flick. Anil had a few other big names in mind for the role like Kirron Kher, Shabana Azmi and Rekha before he approached Madhuri for playing Sonam’s mother in the movie. The desi version of the movie (unnamed) will have Sonam Kapoor playing Lindsay Lohan’s character.

“They had done a lot of films together including Beta, Parinda, Khel and the recent hit Lajja. Even after Madhuri shifted her base to India, she had refrained from calling her friend up”, cited one of Vinod Chopra’s close associates. However, one phone call from Vidhu Vinod Chopra was all it took for getting the Bollywood’s most famous duo to make peace between them. “Vidhu spoke to Anil and Madhuri. He asked them to let bygones be. And both agreed, realising that they were angry over a rather trivial issue”, added the source.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra seemingly had his own reasons and vested interests in getting Anil and Madhuri back together again. The Bollywood producer and director, who completes thirty years in the film making space, will be celebrating a one of its kind film festival, where he would screen all his hits, retrospective of all his productions across the major cinemas in the Indian subcontinent starting from 29th March.

On 30th March, for the screening of his 1989 blockbuster hit Parinda, Vidhu needed his lead actors to walk the red carpet in PVR Juhu and thus decided to play the peacemaker.
