In her new movie Kidnap, opposite Imraan Khan of course, Minissha Lamba has had somewhat of a makeover becoming a tough extrovert kind of character. Did she find this difficult? “It was anything but easy,” she says, “It was very much out of my safety zone, as I have never dressed like her. My attitude towards life and other things might be the same, but definitely not my body language.” And then there was the bikini scene, was she comfortable with that? “I wasn’t uncomfortable at all. The only thing I was worried about was whether I should be fit enough to sport a bikini.” This reviewer can confirm Minissha Lamba looks fit!
In the space of just a few months, Minissha has worked with perhaps the two most magnificent new stars on the horizon – Ranbir Kapoor and Imraan Khan. Which does she prefer? “That’s a completely unfair question,” she replies, “Both of them are my buddies and they were so much fun to be with. We come from the same generation, and that’s why we could open up to one another.”
Kashmiri-born Minissha has also appeared in such movies as Rocky, The Rebel, Honeymoon Travels, Anamika, Dus Kahaniyaan and Shaurya. Somewhat surprisingly, Minissha has always harboured the dream of becoming a war reporter, a role she played in Shaurya. What led to this strange ambition? “Since my childhood,” she says, “Christiane Amanpour has been the inspiration behind my wish to become a war reporter. Christiane Amanpour is famous for her reports of the Persian Gulf War as well as reports of the Bosnian War. Due to her reports from the tense war-zones of Kashmir and the Middle East countries, she achieved incomparable fame and became my idol.”
