Jatadhara producer Prerna Arora is very excited about the two releases this week.
“Thug Life and Housefull 5 are make-or-break products. A lot depends on their success. We haven’t had too many successes in 2025. If both these mega films are hits, they could change the drift of the box-office this year. Industry ko tassalli ho jayegi, bharosa ho jayega.”
Says Prerna, “As a huge fan of Kamal Sir and Akshay Sir, I look forward to both. I remember when Nayakan was released I was just a child. But capable of knowing I was watching history being made. Mani Ratnam Sir and Kamal Sir coming together is like Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro combining, just imagine if they had gone straight from Mean Street (their first collaboration) to Killers Of The Flower Moon and none of their other classics inbetween had happened. That is the feeling I get about Kamal Sir and Mani Sir coming together after thirty years.”
Too much expectation can kill Thug Life?
Says Prerna, “The trick is to go with an open mind. Mani Sir and Kamal Sir have repeatedly stressed that Thug Life is nothing like Nayakan. If some people still insist on comparing them , then they are just being stubborn.”
As for Housefull 5, Prerna has her own plans. “I will be watching both the versions with two different endings. Why? Because it will be a new experience to see two different endings to the same film. I’ve heard that K Balachander Sir , Mansoor Khan Saab and Raj Kapoor Saab shot two different endings for Ek Duuje Ke Liye ,Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Bobby. But they released only one ending. This is the first time we can watch the same film with two endings. This is too exciting.”
