Reliance Home Video launched Vikram Bhatt’s 3D directorial venture ‘Haunted‘ on home video today. The launch took place at an exclusive retail event at Planet M, Andheri.
Besides the Director Vikram Bhatt, Haunted’s lead pair Mahakshay Chakraborty and Tia Bajpai were present to formally release the DVD of the film.
Other key members from the cast & crew of Haunted who were present at the event included Achint Kaur, story and screenplay writer Ameen Hajee and music director Chirantar Bhatt.
Haunted is India’s first stereoscopic 3D film and Reliance Home Video brings this 3D experience to home viewers on DVD and BLU Ray.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Sweta Agnihotri, COO of Reliance Home Video said “Haunted has been a proven success at the box office, it is amongst the top grosser of 2011. We are now bringing the 3D experience to home viewers with this launch on 3D DVD. Each DVD (priced at Rs. 399/-) comes with 4 3D glasses. Viewing the DVD does not require any special DVD player or 3D. Our association with Vikram Bhatt started with his earlier film 1920 and we look forward to associating with him on his newer ventures as well. ”
A special AV showcasing the film was screened following which Vikram Bhatt addressed the well attended press event and shared his experiences about making of the film. In response to a question from the media, Vikram spoke about the possibility of Haunted 2 in the near future. Vikram also spoke about his plan to enter the 3D fray just to ensure that Haunted got a good response at the box office. “My expectation from Haunted was nothing less than a super hit film”. The audience verdict at the box office has proved Vikram right making Haunted the highest grossing hindi horror film of all time.
The DVD has a special feature on making of the film. A 2D version is also available on VCD and is priced at Rs. 99/- and also comes with 4 sets of 3D glasses. Viewing the DVD does not require any special DVD player or 3D TV.
Film Synopsis
In the misty mountains of Dalhousie stands the sprawling Glen Manor. A house with a secret past and a haunted present. Screams that shatter in the middle of the night and a ghoul that will leave anyone who dares headless. Rehan has bought the property and has already sold it further. Money, he stands to lose millions unless he can make the deal come through but to make the deal he has to first deal with the spirit that has the house in its grasp. As Rehan begins to unearth the bitter past of the house a name comes forth. A name with a picture and the girl in the picture is most beautiful. The name is Meera and Rehan wonders how anyone can fall in love with a picture and name. Till he discovers that the name and the picture was the cause of the haunting.
The movie released in theatres in May 2011 to great reviews and a rock solid performance at the box office.
