Ritesh Deshmukh’s father 67-year-old, Vilasrao Deshmukh is in critical condition after being airlifted to the Global hospital in Chennai. The former chief minister of Maharashtra is suffering from liver cirrhosis and both of his kidneys have stopped functioning.

According to reports Ritesh is ready to donate a part of his liver to help improve his father’s condition. However, as required, tests are needed to determine whether Ritesh will be a match or not.

Vilasrao Deshmukh had been diagosed a year ago with the illness and had even seen some improvement in his condition after undergoing treatement abroad. However, reports are suggesting Vilasrao may now be on a life support/ventialtor machine.

The Deskhmukh family neither denying nor confirming this have not issued a statement on the status of Vilasrao. An official told IANS, “Deshmukh’s condition continues to be critical. However, we are not in a position to issue a medical bulletin as the union minister’s family refused permission for that.”

Hospital Officials have said that Deshmukh is in the intensive care unit and even though son Ritesh is ready to give his father a liver, the hospital official stated “as far as the information with me, the attending doctors are not planning any transplant for two days.” (Source: The New Indian Express)

Doctors are trying to stabilise Vilasrao’s condition. The Deshmukh’s family remain by his side. Our prayers go out to the family.
