In the past, those enlightened about the amazing music of Bollywood films would have to wait for their CD to arrive or make a trip to a local Indian grocery store. Slowly that is changing and in the past year or so Apple’s iTunes store, the biggest online music retailer, has greatly increased its offering of Bollywood music. Many of the new soundtracks become available right away on iTunes for download at a cost of 99 cents per song. Saavn, a New York and Mumbai based media company has teamed up with the store to offer a special promotion aimed at increasing the exposure of this wonderful music to the US.

Saavn, at promotional events all across the US, will be giving away special edition cards that will let you download one of these 5 hits: ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ from Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, ‘Kajra Re’ from Bunty Aur Babli, ‘Dus Bahane’ from Dus, ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’ from Aksar and ‘Mehbooba’ from Aap Ka Surroor. All 5 of these soundtracks are all ready available on iTunes.

Vin Bhatt co-founder and GM of Saavn said, “We’re excited to be marking new ground in technology and music through this distribution relationship. We specifically chose five songs that have been chart-toppers in India, so that they can the same exposure, recognition and success worldwide.”
