The much anticipated launch of the world’s biggest dance academy, SHIAMAK received an overwhelming response in the USA. On August 28 , they celebrated one year of successfully educating, entertaining and empowering people through dance and the performing arts . With an energetic Bollywood themed party, everyone associated with the academy came together to celebrate in style at the gorgeous lounge Vermillion in New York City.
Education
Over the last 365 days, The SHIAMAK Dance Academy has reached out to dance enthusiasts across New York and New Jersey introducing them to the Shiamak movement and Bollywood dancing straight from the heart of Indian Cinema – Mumbai. Through the Winter Funk, Spring Funk and Summer Funk batches, students have got an opportunity to learn their favorite dance styles, perform on stage and feel the joy of being in the spotlight. In the course of these twelve months, Shiamak’s faculty has travelled across Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville and Austin spreading the joy of dance. Special workshops were also conducted for the JK Watson Fellowship, ladies networking class with Joya Dass’ Lady Drink in NYC and ladies networking class with Millburn Cultural Committee in Millburn, NJ. Just before the one year celebration, students here got a special Master Class with Shiamak’s Master Faculty and CEO of The SHIAMAK Group, Glen D’Mello.
Entertainment
It was the overwhelming response to Shiamak’s choreography at the IIFA Awards in Tampa Bay (April, 2014) that convinced him to launch his academy in the USA. Since then, the instructors have developed The SHIAMAK Dance Team USA that trains in various dance styles and performs at shows and events. From Diwali at Times Square led by popular reality show judge and Shiamak’s COO Marzi to the NYC Dance Parade, from the Asian American Heritage Festival in Edison to the Independence Day Parade (SLING International Float), SHIAMAK USA has introduced the audience here to the larger than life Bollywood experience in true Shiamak Style. Through the year, the team has participated in various community celebrations marking festivals including Diwali, Halloween, Valentine Day, Baisakhi, Holi and Christmas.
Empowerment
Shiamak has always believed in the power of dance to heal. Spreading happiness through dance, The SHIAMAK USA team has performed and conducted Dance for Good activities through the year. In April 2015, they joined hands with Young Voice of NYC to put up a special dance performance in support of Pediatric Cancer division of St. Judes Hospital. Senior Manager , Deeba Patel judged the competition along with Joya Dass, Karen Hoyos, Thara Natalie. The team celebrated International Dance Day by giving back to the community, by performing for the retired seniors at Bethpage Senior Community Center in Long Island.
