Guru of Dance, Shiamak Davar has been spreading the joy of dance and quality dance education the world over. Continuing his effort to provide avenues for dance enthusiasts to learn from the best and develop their talent, he introduces a week long Summer Intensive in Midlands. This program will introduce the participants to multiple dance styles with an opportunity to dance and learn with the best dance faculty.
The SHIAMAK Summer Intensive Dance Program is designed to give students the opportunity to train and study dance and performing arts in a professional environment. The program is structured to enhance the technical skills of dancers in a wide variety of techniques and improve their dance vocabulary. Students will learn dance styles including Contemporary, Ballet, Hip – Hop, Commercial, Indian Classical, Bollywood Jazz and Dandiya Jazz.
The faculty teaching the program includes the Award Winning British contemporary dancer, Aakash Odedra who will be teaching Indian Classical. Trained in Kathak and Bharat Natyam, Aakash considers Shiamak as his Guru. He trained with Shiamak from 2002 -04 before moving to London. His more recent choreographies range from large-scale classical evenings to contemporary works and opera, such as the Theatre Freiburg production of God’s Little Soldier (2013).
Finalist in the Top 20 of So You Think You Can Dance series 2 and Got to Dance, Ryan Jekins has worked in every area of the entertainment industry with be teaching contemporary at SHIAMAK Summer Intensive. Fast becoming one of the most sought after choreographer, Ryan has worked with the biggest creatives in the world including Matthew Bourne, Arlene Philips, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Joel Schumacher, Peter Darling, Richard Marcel to sharing the stage with stars as Kerry Ellis, Idina Menzal, Adam Cooper, Miriam Margolyes, and Adam Garcia.
Students will be introduced to ballet by Allyson Bacon who has over thirty years of dance experience and training in Ballet, Tap, National, Character and Modern Stage under the Allied Dancing Association.
Originally from Leicester, Wahchi Vong also known as Soul Brother Chi is without a doubt, one of the most highly anticipated Hip Hop dancers within the UK. With six years of experience, he has travelled nationally and internationally to compete, perform and teach. His credits include Topman, Puma, Breakin Convention, SummerDanceForever and Leicester’s Best Dance Crew, to name a few. Robyn Stainrod who attended The Nikki Lynham School of Performing Arts will teach Commercial to the program. She specializes in Street Dance and has an experience in Musical Theatre.
Shiamak’s own master faculty in the UK will introduce students to Bollywood Jazz and Dandiya Jazz. Senior instructor and Manager, Rohan Shah who specializes in Dandiya Jazz participated in competitions back home and has taught around the world. Anupam Hinge and Pooja Kale who manage Shiamak’s dance classes in Midlands will teach Bollywood Jazz, both of whom have performed at the biggest Bollywood shows including the IIFA Awards, TOIFA Awards, Filmfare Awards and more. They have not only performed with noteworthy Bollywood stars but also trained them for various awards and events.
