She is probably the most recognised Asian face in the UK. Shilpa Shetty has always been a famous for her movies in Bollywood, but the actress shot to international fame overnight, after winning Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2006. After winning the reality show, Shetty focused on establishing businesses and a name in the UK, rather than signing movies in the Indian Film Industry.
The Life in a Metro star has successfully launched a signature perfume S2, an Indian Restaurant and a Yoga DVD in Britain. She also owns a beauty parlour in Tooting, South West London called “Shilpa’s Hair and Beauty Salon”.
Shilpa Shetty is back into the homes of Britain, but this time through her range of authentic Indian vegetarian meals Shilpa’s Gourmet Creations! She launched her products at Holland & Barrett’s Camden store on Tuesday, February 8th.
Shilpa said: ‘Vegetables are a vital source of vitamins and minerals, but vegetarian doesn’t have to mean bland and rubbery food. Indian vegetarian never compromises on flavour and proves that eating healthy can also be tasty!” She also commented on Indian food saying that “it’s too salty” and has a lot of spices. The actress mentioned that her food line has the spices but just in the right amount.
The gourmet line will feature 5 scrumptious dishes, including Mushroom Korma, Vegetable Masala, and everyone’s favourite, Onion Bhaji. Shilpa’s Gourmet Creations are intended to reflect the star’s own eating habits, which stress a combination of healthy dishes that also taste delicious.
