Producers Kyta Productions and Emmay Entertainment maiden co-production went on floors yesterday. Baazaar stars Saif Ali Khan and introduces Rohan Mehra, the son of the highly respected actor late Vinod Mehra.
Set against the backdrop of the heady cocktail of city life in Mumbai and it’s extremely seductive and dangerous world of stock trading, the film stars Saif Ali Khan in a role that has been inspired from the folklore surrounding the markets.
It took Nikkhil Advani just a few seconds to zero in on debutant Rohan Mehra, who has been aggressively groomed for a launch over the past eighteen months. This includes an ongoing regime of acting workshops, mixed martial arts, fight and dance training. In all this, Rohan has always found time to pursue his second love – playing the guitar and photography.
“When I moved back to Mumbai to look for a break in films, I met a lot of producers. Being mentored by Nikkhil and his team has been a great start for me as they’ve helped me focus on my strengths and improve my weaknesses,” says the double major Bachelors in Economics from the University of Nottingham in the UK. Rohan further adds, “The most overwhelming thing for me has been the way I have been received by people and colleagues who knew my father. It is almost as if I am learning about my identity and my legacy through them. That is a very heavy responsibility I realise that I have to live up to.”
Director Gauravv K Chawla said, “Baazaar is a film is meant for each and everyone who dreams of making it in the big bad world of Mumbai, and does so on their own terms.”
