Sonam Kapoor has repeated claimed and tweeted that she is an ardent reader. In fact very recently the young actress tweeted, “Starting a book called lovely bones by alice sebold.. Let’s see where it takes me.” A few months ago, author Aditya Kripalani had sent over a copy of his critically acclaimed book Back Seat to the actresses’ office. Talks of the book being made into a film were underway and Sonam was being considered for the female protagonist. It is only now three months later that word from her office has come through claiming that she is not interested in the book or script. Mind you the actress is yet to flip open a page of the book till date. It was a staff member who is apparently in-charge of reading scripts and stories for the actress, who let the author know that Sonam would not be a part of the film when it did go from novel to script. The writer also stated that word from her office only came after solid months of nonstop follow ups.
The question arises as to whether or not the actress is really as much of a bookworm as she claims. Additionally, does the actress read her own scripts before making a decision?
As some trivia, the Back Seat by Aditya Kripalani has received rave reviews from readers all over the world. The novel has also received an Honorable Mention at the Hollywood Book Festival. The writer himself has an impressive line of work behind him including being the script consultant on a number of hard-hitting films. The likes of Suchitra Pillai read from the book at its book launch.
