Set to release on January 10th is Sonu Sood’s action drama Fateh. Sonu Sood likes to put his money where his mouth is. “I want the film to be affordable to the auto driver in Mumbai, the rickshaw puller in Patna, the cycle repairman in Akola.”
Philanthropist-actor-producer-director Sonu Sood’s startling offer to sell all tickets for his film Fateh at Rs 99 on the first day, has shaken the film trade.
But Sonu Sood has his own take on his film’s viability and the audience. “Sir. I don’t look at my film as only a money-making machine. Of course I want Fateh to be a success. Who doesn’t want success? But for me , the public is not just an audience for my film. They are my extended family. Bahot gehra rishta hai hamara unke saath. I don’t look at them as a profit making machine.”
During the Covid pandemic Sonu Sood helped thousands of people with transportation to their homes, medicines, oxygen emergency surgery, financial assistance, education etc.
24-year old Bilal Ahmed from Begusarai(Bihar) is one of the thousands who received invaluable assistance from Sonu during those dark days of the pandemic. “Bahot ehsaan hai unka. Woh devta hain.First day first show dekhunga main Fateh.”
When this writer shares the above conversation with Sonu, his reply is a shy, “I am glad, but I don’t want those who have been assisted by me during Covid to see my film out of gratitude. See Fateh because you want to, because it looks interesting.”
