Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra have set aside dates in early 2008 to reprise their roles in Farhan Khan’s Don 2. It will be a sequel to last year’s remake of the original Don that starred none other than Amitabh Bachchan.
This is the first time that a filmmaker anywhere is attempting to make a sequel from a remake and according to a source in the Mumbai Mirror, Farhan Khan, “… has the daunting task of getting into the original screenwriter’s [Javed Akhtar] head to imagine where the plot might have been taken if it were to be carried further.”
It was rumored earlier that Sushmita Sen would replace Chopra in Don 2, but those have been categorically denied. Though there is no official word, yet reports say that the plans for the sequel are coming together quickly with the script being worked on and the other actors for the film being finalised.
The sequel is going to be even more extravagant in its feel, look and especially with its special effects. The source added, “When Don came last year, Dhoom [2] hadn’t happened. Now Farhan will have to match the standards set by Dhoom and Krissh. There are also the dubbed Hollywood movies such as Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3. The budget and the locations for Don 2 will be far more spectacular than the first part.”
We cannot wait to hear more about this exciting project and look forward to it being in theatres, hopefully in 2008!
