Last week, on Sunday 23rd January, some of Bollywood biggest stars got together to strut their stuff on the catwalk all in the name of charity. The charity fashion show, called ‘Mijwan,’ was organised by Shabana Azmi in order to raise funds for the empowerment of rural girls in India.

Shabana Azmi’s father, the late Kaifi Azmi, set up the Mijwan Welfare Society in order to empower girl children in the village Mijwan were he was born. Shabana Azmi says she is ‘taking his dream forward’ by helping raise more funds for the charity “Mijwan is a tiny village in UP where my father Kaifi Azmi was born. He founded the NGO and I have taken on the task of taking his dream forward. MWS runs Kaifi Azmi High School for girls, Kaifi Azmi Inter College for Girls, Kaifi Azmi Computer Training Centre, Kaifi Azmi Sewing and Tailoring Centre.”

The fashion show saw stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Karan Johar, Shilpa Shetty, to name a few, take to the catwalk in Manish Malhotra creations. Manish Malhotra will be providing employment for the girls in the village, as they will be doing the embroidery for his creations for a whole year.

Hrithik, who had just returned from London where he launched his wax figure at the iconic Madame Tussauds, said, “I am very happy to lend support to Mijwan Welfare Society that seeks to empower the girl child in rural India. Kaifi Saheb, who founded the NGO, has worked with my grandfather Roshan Saheb, and Shabana Aunty has been a school friend of my dad. I’m working with Zoya so it’s really a relationship spanning three generations. But even more importantly I believe that when I support a cause I get enriched by the experience because it sensitises me to the plight of those less privileged…for a mere Rs 6000, a girl child in Mijwan can get through school for a whole year! We blow up 10 times that amount at a restaurant in one night!” The superstar has also made his contributions to the NGO by donating a substantial amount to the charity.

The fashion show not only raised money for a great cause but also allowed us to see which stars looked hot, both on the catwalk and off the catwalk, and which did not. Click on to see which stars looked hot…..

I am not feeling this look on Ranbir Kapoor. The waistcoat does not go with that shirt or jeans and the shoes don’t help the look either. Ranbir looks a bit like a character out of an 18th Century storybook and that is not a good thing!

Verdict – Not HOT!
