15nov_sajid-tamashaIt was way back in 2006 when Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar starrer Jaan-e-Mann had released. A well made film, it couldn’t cover much distance due to its heads-on clash with Shahrukh Khan’s Don. This was the last time when producer Sajid Nadiadwala went home disappointed.

9 years, 10 films and around 800 crore at the Box Office later, he is enjoying a golden run, what with each of his subsequent films tuning out to be a good commercial success. Now one looks forward to his next release Tamasha making it 11 in a row.

Comments a trade source, “It has been a dream outing for Sajid. Period. Just look at the films he has put together in these years. With Heyy Babyy, Housefull and Housefull 2, he made three clean hits with Akshay Kumar and director Sajid Khan. In fact Akshay also enjoyed his biggest opening of that time with Kambakkth Ishq. The songs of Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s Anjaana Anjaana are one of the best to have come out of his banner Nadiadwala Grandson. Imtiaz Ali’s Highway is one of the most acclaimed films of the decade so far and positioned Sajid in a different light.”

“This isn’t all as even with newcomers, he delivered a clean hit with Sabbir Khan bringing together Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon for Heropanti. Another 100 crore success came his way with Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 2 States, which he made in collaboration with Karan Johar. The icing on the cake was Kick, which Sajid himself directed, and in the process entered the 200 crore club. His last release Phantom brought Saif Ali Khan out of a bad phase as the film managed good opening and also wide critical acclaim. He has been putting his money on the right subjects and right people,” he continued.

No wonder, all eyes are now on Tamasha as it is expected that the trio of Imtiaz Ali, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone would again deliver for Sajid Nadiadwala. While the producer has spared no expense in making sure that this turns out to be one of the major biggies to hit the screens before the close of year, the verdict would be out next Friday (27th November) once the film releases all over.
