The highly publicized search for a heroine for Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder’s next film, Tees Maar Khan, has come to an end, with Katrina Kaif confirmed as the film’s leading lady.
Reportedly, she will be playing a clueless wannabe item girl, whose character is named after director Farah Khan’s real-life daughter.
Kaif’s casting ends months of rumour and speculation that has seen several other actresses — including Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor — linked to the role.
Regarding the long time it took to cast Katrina, director Farah Khan has said, “Every time I was searching for a new girl, the brief was that she had to be like Katrina. After a point, I wondered why I was looking for someone like Katrina when I could take Katrina herself. She suits the role very much.”
Also cast in Tees Maar Khan are Akshaye Khanna and Akshay Kumar. Given Kaif’s excellent track record of hit films with Kumar (Welcome, Namastey London, Singh is Kinng), it seems that she was an obvious choice as a heroine against Kumar’s leading man. The question is: will they create the same magic together in Tees Maar Khan?
