Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
The tabloids may be busy writing all sorts of nonsense about Ash and her baby-weight but the new Mom didn’t let any of that take a toll on her confidence at the event.

It was a flowing maxi for Ash for a photo call at the festival. Gotta love everything about this look especially the hair!

Another maxi was chosen for interviews on the rooftop. This time a Robert Cavalli animal print one. Sadly this one just didn’t work as well as the last. Maybe the multiple layers were an overkill.

Going for the Bachchan household designer duo Abu Jain and Sandeep Khosla was Ash at the amfAR gala. Definitely the worst choice she made at this years festival. The flow of the saree (if that is infact what it is!) was simply unattractive and that blouse was such an eye sore and completely overbearing. It’s like she’d worn a metal shield!

Ash ended her Cannes appearances in a stunning Ellie Saab. Definitely her best appearance of them all. Love that it was so effortlessly simple and she let the gown do all the talking.

Mallika Sherawat
Ali Medhavi was the chosen designer for this Mallika Sherawat two days in a row.

Minus the hood this outfit worked quite well. The hood was just a try-hard attention grabbing technique that we’re kind of sick of expecting from Ms Sherawat. The hair and the makeup were great though!

It was a nude colored Ali Medhavi again for Mallika this time one that favoured a certain ‘other’ cleavage, not the one we’re used to seeing from Mallika. Safe to say the experimental look just ended up looking tacky and for a lack of better word, cheap. The fabric is perhaps why it earned the ‘cheap’ tag. The dress left nothing to the imagination which is why it was neither sexy nor anything else.

Niharika Sen

Miss India Niharika Sen attended the festival for her upcoming film Miss Lovely. She looked absolutely stunning in a chiffon Swapnil Shinde gown. Red lips and silver accessories perfectly completed her look.

Reema Sen

Reema’s blue gown was a total let down just not fit for an event so grand. Left so much more to be desired. The hair and makeup didn’t help either. Whilst most of our celebrities have tried too hard to look the part at Cannes, wish Reema had tried only a little harder.

Richa Chadda

It was a Malini Agarwalla gown for Richa. Completely in love with the gown itself but definitely not feeling the hair or the footwear. What a shame because that outfit had such great potential!

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam chose a Dolce & Gabbana dress for the Winners Dinner. A rare moment when our fashionista gets it wrong but somehow this look isn’t being pulled off by her as effortlessly as she normally pulls of what she wears. A different hairdo would have definitely changed my opinion. Perhaps some rich curls to keep in the princess theme and also so as to not leave the shoulder area so bare and bland.

An Alexandra McQueen gown on the red carpet was the choice for Sonam. Now that’s the kind of look I was looking forward to seeing from her. Very striking and yet not pushing the limit unnecessarily. Loving the hair, makeup and especially the pop of red on the lips and nails.

One definitely can’t accuse Sonam for boring us with her appearances at Cannes as she tried something different each time. It was a simple Gucci dress for the Vanity Fair party. The hair do is one you’ll either like or not like. I fall in the latter group.

Sonam looked effortlessly striking in a polka dot Naeem Khan gown at the Chopard Mystere Party. This has to be the winning look amongst all her appearance. The gown itself is amazing and Sonam did well to style it so minimally so as to let the outfit do the talking.(P.S It was a polka dott Masaba saree for Sonam last year, wondering if she’s going to make a yearly habit of this?)

For interviews on the rooftop Sonam chose a Marni dress. Some have loved the look however personally the dress as just too many patterns happening for me.

Kalki Koechlin

On the red carpet Sabyasachi was the designer of choice for Kalki. One wonders from everything that Sabya has to offer why she went for this lehenga. The down pallu just gives a bare look that takes away the elegance from the appearance. The Sabya headband, clutch amongst the curly hair-do takes the whole thing to an ‘over the top’ level. Wish she’d pleated the pallu, missed out on the Sabya accessories and done something less loud with her hair and that way the outfit would do the talking. *sigh*. An appearance that could have been great ended up being quite mediocre, if that!

She faired much better at a photocall for her film Gangs of Wassepur in a Dior gown. The statement necklace and clutch complimented her look all too brilliantly.

Arjun and Mehr Rampal

I’ve saved the best for the last because Mr and Mrs Rampal stole the show amongst the Indian faces present at the event. Mehr shined in her Tarun Tahiliani gown and for Arjun it was a Rohit Bal jodhpur pants outfit that really made him stand out in the sea of suited up men.
