Bollywood’s very own Bipasha Basu has been selected as one of the hosts for the New 7 Wonders of the World program in Lisbon. Ben Kingsley and Hilary Swank are co-hosting the event with Bipasha that will announce the list of the New Seven Wonders of the World. This spectacular event is being held very fittingly on July 7th.

India’s Taj Mahal, The Acropolis, The Eiffel tower, The Great Wall of China and of course the Pyramids of Giza are just some of the nominees on the list. The final seven are being chosen through votes cast by people all over the world. In fact, with still 2 weeks to go to the ceremony more than 60 million people have voted. So far The Taj Mahal, The Colosseum in Rome and The Eiffel Tower in Paris are the sites with the most votes.

The magnificent ceremony is being held in Portugal’s Benfica Stadium of Light and will include many important guests, as well performances. Scheduled to perform are Jennifer Lopez, Dulce Pontes, Chaka Khan, Jose Carreras, Alessandro Safina and Joaquon Cortos, among others. The stage will measure 10,000 square meters and the performance, which will be broadcast all over the world will have 6,500 people in total working on it.

Bernard Weber, Founder and President of New 7 Wonders, said, “The world continues, for less than three more weeks, to come together to create a list of treasures that we all share for the first time in history. We are delighted that these remarkable personalities from so many different fields are joining us on July 7 to celebrate the New 7 Wonders of the World, as chosen by the global citizens.”

Bipasha is ecstatic at being asked to host such a prestigious event and said, “It is such an honour. It’s like being a part of history.”

We hope India’s Taj Mahal stays at the top and cannot wait to see which other sites are the “New 7 Wonders of the World!”
