Coming up on December 18th is the highly anticipated Dilwale, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Not only are fans eagerly awaiting the film, they are also eagerly waiting to hear the OST, which was composed by Pritam with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

When we heard a sneak listen to the music of Dilwale in London, we were wowed and that was only three of the songs. The full soundtrack of Dilwale will feature seven tracks and promises, we predict, to be a feast for the ears.

Then we got to see the trailer, which by the way has hit almost 12 million views in 6 days and just with the background music we wanted to hear more. Add in the glimpses of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Iceland for the song, Gerua, which were breathtaking, and that amped up fans desire to hear and see more of what the music of Dilwale has in store.

At a recent Dilwale music event in Dubai, Pritam talked about first meeting with Rohit Shetty to discuss the soundtrack, “I was excited, yes; but when I heard Kajol was signed on as the cast, that’s when I felt the pressure, to live up to the legacy of that romance that has symbolised their love story on screen for 20 years.”

Adding, “When I heard it’s a film with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, I knew their legacy of hit songs is rich, but I told myself not to be bogged down by it or to think about that too much. I couldn’t let the pressure get to me.”

That pressure certainly is there he admitted to PTI, “Dilwale is a movie which has song situations which demand popular songs. So, the pressure on Dilwale is high.”

He says working with SRK and director Rohit Shetty a great experience, “Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most charming men I have ever met and he’s very supportive of his team. Director Rohit Shetty was very clear about the songs that he wanted. If the songs didn’t sound right, he didn’t mull over it for long. He told you right away. They both were actively involved in the creative process and it was a lot of fun.”

Pritam says it is was a blessing to compose for this film, especially love songs for Shah Rukh and Kajol, “Doing a romantic track for Shah Rukh and Kajol is a blessing for any music director. I feel happy and blessed that I got to do two romantic songs.”

We do know that the track ‘Janam Janam’ is Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s theme song, it plays whenever they meet. “This song is theme of Shah Rukh’s and Kajol’s love story, so it’s all about passion and a promise of eternity,” Pritam revealed.

It seems we may not have to wait much longer for the soundtrack or perhaps it is the first song because Sony Music India has been teasing with these tweets

To hold you over until the music does drop, be sure to check out what Pritam had to say about the three of the tracks ‘Gerua’, ‘Manma Emotion Jaage’ and ‘Janam Janam’ at the very cool event in London here.
