To study at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is a dream for most the students as its one of the most prestigious B-Schools in India.
Till date, no Bollywood film has been shot at the institute and getting permission to shoot there is next to impossible.
But Karan Johar’s 2 States starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has managed the impossible and is the 1st film to have been shot at the institute.
A source says that since the book was based on IIM-A it would have been impossible to show any other place as IIM-A. It was important to stay true to the book as much as possible.
The source further adds that it took a while before the final go ahead was given to the makers.
The script was submitted, the changes were accepted by the makers and then, finally permission was given.
The director Abhishek Varman confirms, “Shooting at IIM-A was actually a very good experience. The faculty was really helpful. It was also nice to be able to portray the college life in the very campus where Krish and Ananya actually meet in the book. And yes, this is the first time they have let anyone shoot on their campus.”
2 States releases in UK cinemas on 18th April.
