Here are five Bollywood films with children as protagonists that have created magic on screen in the past:
Stanley Ka Dabba: Amol Gupte’s debut film starring his son Partho has all the makings of a masterpiece! The film deals with food in a very sensitive yet delicious way and the visuals are enough to make anyone fall in love with the movie. The film explores themes like sharing, self-esteem and the spirit of friendship and Parthos’s heartwarming portrayal of Stanley is a show stealer.
Rockford: Another noteworthy child centric movie from Nagesh Kukunoor, the film stars Rohan Dey as Rajesh Naidu a Hindu boy who is admitted into Rockford, an all-boys Christian boarding school. What follows is a lot of drama, of course! A movie about school children, their struggles and childhood romances, Rockford is a classic movie that will win the heart of any child. Coupled with Rohan’s relatable performance and the sweet romance between him and the female lead Ulrika Krishnamurti makes this movie a runaway hit!
Hawaa Hawaai: Portrayed by the very talented Partho Gupte the story of Hawaa Hawaai revolves around Arjun Harishchand Waghmare a street urchin and his dream to skate. The inspiring story of a young boy and his dare to dream big motivates everyone to fight for their own dreams. In yet another stellar performance Partho takes away the audience’s hearts with his conviction and truth in the portrayal of the difficulties faced by a poor child.
Makdee: Vishal Bharadwaj’s Makdee is a juxtaposition of fantasy and reality. The movie explores themes like witches, haunted houses and powerful myths while questioning the fears that live in everybody’s minds. Shweta Pandit flawlessly portrays the dual role of twin sisters Chunni and Munni and upholds the values of sisterly love which conquers sibling rivalry. Shweta’s character makes us laugh and cry and strengthens our belief in sibling bonding.
Chillar Party: This film co-directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bahl featured child actors Irfan Khan, Sanath Menon and Rohan Grover. Produced by Salman Khan and UTV Motion Pictures the movie had Ranbir Kapoor in a special appearance.
