From a one night celebration in 2000 at the Millennium Dome, London, the last ten years have seen the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) movement grow into a cine-packed weekend.
The IIFA Weekend and Awards is a celebration of Indian Cinema consisting of fun-filled activities that brings the fans close to their favorite stars. It consists of film-festivals, workshops, exhibitions, film-showcases, global business forums and sporting events, all of which climax into the highlight of the Weekend, the IIFA Awards Ceremony which honours the best of Indian cinema. Fans of Indian cinema from all over the world converge to celebrate Indian cinema, whereas millions worldwide catch the telecast from the comforts of their home.
For the 2011 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Celebrations which will take place in Toronto, Ontario from 23rd – 25th June, the first block of tickets for the highly anticipated event sold out in minutes. The initial 5,000 tickets to the IIFA Award Ceremony sold out in less than 30 minutes after going on sale to the general public. A second block is now available.
The IIFA Weekend is a glamorous celebration of Indian cinema and a global platform that gives the Indian film industry an opportunity to reach audiences in international territories. The weekend celebration is comprised of six major events including the FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum, IIFA Rocks, IIFA Film Festival, IIFA Film Workshop, the IIFA Awards and a myriad of interactive community events in and around the Greater Toronto area.
