As an actor, Amitabh Bachchan has been setting high standards with his range of new and different types of roles. So far, his experiments include Sexy Sam in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and in Cheeni Kum he is sporting a pony-tail that has everyone talking.
Now in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, the director Shaad Ali is giving Big B an incredible new look. It is inspired by Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean) look, with a little of the Pied Piper thrown in.
His costume is a multi-colored patchwork long coat with a hat decorated with ribbons, flowers and feathers. His hair is beaded and he sings and dances while playing the bugle. It is definitely the film’s USP (Unique Selling Point) according to experts. “Whether he plays the main lead or does a cameo, Amitabh’s presence in any movie becomes its USP. The same goes for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. Filmmakers are vying with each other to cash in on Amitabh’s success” says Geeta Shree, a Delhi-based film critic.
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom stars: Lara Dutta who looks stunningly gorgeous in a sexy new avatar. Her counterpart is Abhishek Bachchan who is also sporting a new look – a tweaked moustache.
Preity Zinta who always looks gorgeous is paired with Bobby Deol. Bobby Deol will also don different looks in the film. Some scenes have him in straight black hair, whereas others have him sporting long, blondish hair. An interesting tidbit is that this is the first time Bobby and Abhishek will be sharing screen space together. As many of you may know, their fathers Amitabh and Dharmendra did a couple of films together too. Remember a little movie called Sholay?
Shaad Ali’s last movie had the item number of all item numbers ‘Kajra Re’ with Aishwarya Rai and in this movie he is going to try and top that with Big B and SRK in an item number together.
Going by the promos, the film looks amazing. It appears to be an energetic and entertaining romantic comedy. The story revolves around two couples in London, and is about the magic of falling in love and the difficulty of doing anything about it. Geeta Shree added, “The promos are generating huge interest and the audiences will surely go to the theatres to watch the film – more so because a huge chunk of them loves watching masala movies. This is a Yash Raj Films’ product – they excel in making time-pass masala movies, so this film should surely have great box office prospects.”
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom is slated for release on June 15th.
