In Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s modern version of Yeh Mera Dil, Kareena Kapoor took on the enormous task of re-creating Helen’s magic (personally I don’t think there was much magic, just some bizarre facial expressions) in the 1970’s original. Some people called her drop-dead-gorgeous and others said she looked like a man dressed as a woman (yes, someone did tell me this!). I actually thought she looked really nice but Farah Khan’s odd dance steps let her down. If 2005 was Aishwarya’s turn to create a brilliant item number, 2006 goes falls straight into the lap of sultry siren Bipasha Basu. One can’t really call her a brilliant dancer or anything, but she was really on fire in Beedi Jalaile which was an amazing composition to begin with. You could almost feel the energy bursting from the screen. She was also impressive in Namak from the same film.
