The year 2011 will always be remembered in Indian cinema as the year of the heroine, with the epic success of The Dirty Picture, but 2012 looks to be remembered for similar reasons come September. During that month audiences will be treated to three releases from Bollywood’s most beautiful actresses: Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kappor and Sridevi.

Kareena Kapoor will take her Dirty Picture style story to Hindi cinema in her solo release Heroine. The film follows a successful Hindi actress through the ups and downs of her career. With extreme dedication from Kapoor and Madhhur Bhandarkar’s experience with female led films, Heroine looks to be an entertainer and challenger to The Dirty Picture’s success.

Rani Mukerji, last seen in No One Killed Jessica, will be seen and supported by Malayalam actor Prithviraj in Aiyya which also releases in September. The film, which is directed by Sachin Kundalkar, is a love story set to a west-south cultural cash backdrop. After the award winning performance from Rani as the bitchy journalists fans will be excited to see Rani heading another project.

After being absent for 14 years Sridevi has chosen English Vinglish as her comeback film. In the Balki production Sridevi will play a housewife who takes English lessons to please her husband and family. Given the long absence and excitement surrounding this film it is sure to be a hit with her fans.

With all these films in one month its looking like a busy year for our actresses. Who though will take away the gold at the box office? Only time will tell.
