Dostana has been a real pick-me-up for the actors involved, all of whose careers were going through a difficult period. In particular, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pleased at the success of husband Abhishek after the less-than-perfect Drona. “I obviously thought he was fantastic,” she says, whilst proclaiming how jealous she was of the chemistry between him and John Abraham. “Abhi was very entertaining and really funny in the film but if I say that you guys will accuse me of being biased. But, the fact is that it is very fantastic when you the viewer, you the critic and the audience come up appreciating it and the way they have come up has really been overwhelming.”
Aishwarya is a very busy lady at the moment. She is currently filming down South for the movie Ravana with husband Abhi and is awaiting the release of the Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin. Meanwhile, she has been sashaying down the catwalk to launch the new Admiral collection from Longines. She has also signed up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new project – the first time they have worked together since Devdas. She will be appearing once again opposite Hrithik Roshan and it’s hoped that the chemistry will spark once again as it did before in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar.
As if all that wasn’t enough, she will be appearing at the Live Earth concert on December 7th alongside Amitabh, Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Waters and Will.I.Am. The main beneficiary of the event will be the Light A Billion Lives campaign, a project close to Amitabh’s heart. Hrithik Roshan, Bipashu Basu, Preity Zinta and Hard Kaur will also be at the Mumbai event, as well as former US Vice-President Al Gore.
