Cinema icon Akshay Kumar was presented the Best Actor Award by the Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony held in New Delhi. Information and Broadcasting Minister of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and MoS Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore were also present on the occasion.
Megastar Akshay Kumar received the accolade for his magnanimous role as Naval Commander Rustom Pavri in the 2016 crime thriller Rustom. Inspired by the 1959 Nanavati case, this Akshay Kumar starrer was a critically acclaimed and equally successful film.
The megastar took to twitter to express his gratitude. He wrote, “No words can do justice to the joy I feel at this moment…sharing with you all my first ever! Thank you for the love.”
After delivering a high profile roster of successful films in 2016 from Airlift to Rustom, and kick-starting 2017 with a bang with Jolly LL.B 2, one can safely say that Akshay Kumar is the most bankable star in India, winning both critical and audience acclaim.
