Akshay Kumar whose Hari Om production house has already signed up Trisha opposite Akshay for Khatta Meeta, has now signed the top Southern actress for two more movies. “I should consider myself lucky,” she says, “Though I had several offers from Bollywood earlier, I couldn’t accommodate the dates as I was busy with Tamil and Telugu films. Now the moment has come and that too in a big way. Three movies and a dream debut opposite Akshay Kumar, that too directed by my mentor Priyadarshan.”
Trisha, however, still maintains that the South will be her mainstay and denies that she has tried to escape from her commitments in the South, “Despite being busy, we are trying to adjust dates for my films. If things don’t work out, we’ll part ways professionally. Southern films will always remain my mainstay,” she confirms.
Nor is Trisha prepared to allow the rumour to spread that her foray into Bollywood is an attempt to keep her competitor Asin under control. “Some people are spreading rumours that my Hindi film effort is to keep Asin in check,” she says, “They want to portray me as her competitor. The fact of the matter is that Akshay was very impressed by my performance in Abhiyum Naanum and wanted to cast me in the film Kattha Meetha, which would be his home production. I do not treat Asin as my competitor.”
