Regular readers of Amitabh Bachchan’s blog, or those who follow his Aladin co-star Riteish Deshmukh on Twitter, were in for a treat on September 11th. Riteish directed followers to bigb.bigadda.com for the first look at the new Aladin trailer.
Breaking from the usual Hindi film promotional pattern, the trailer gives away a great deal of the set-up: Aladin (Riteish) is a modern-day man who’s suffered for his name a great deal – no nonsense about pretending no one knows the story of Aladdin. As an adult, he finds the famous lamp and summons Genius the Genie, played by none other than the Big B himself in a thoroughly modern, though whimsical, avatar. Glimpses of Sanjay Dutt enjoying himself hugely as the Magician, and Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez making her film debut playing Aladin’s heroine, follow.
Of course, there are large amounts of special-effects shots, which look incredibly well-executed. Viewers are sure to find themselves eagerly awaiting the film’s release after watching. Unfortunately for them, Aladin doesn’t open until end of October!
