International Youth Day seemed to be the day to make the simple announcement of the release of the Aamras, a slice-of-life film, produced by Sunil Doshi (of Bheja Fry fame) and directed by Rupali Guha, daughter of veteran filmmaker Basu Chatterjee.
Says director Rupali Guha, “Aamras is a coming of age youth film about friendship among four 17-18 year old urban school girls, Jiya, Pari, Rakhi, and Sanya. Showcasing the ups and downs of friendship, Aamras will make one remember what it was like to have friends when you were 17 and glad that they were there when they were.”
Anchal Saberwal, Maanvi Gagroo, Natasha Bhardwaj and Vega Tamotia, the lead girls seemed to be at home at Naarad Bungalow as they laughed and giggled and sipped Aamras, giving meaning to the title of the film. The girls surely had a ball of a time. “It’s this splendid off-screen chemistry that translates into an on-screen one”, said an elated Rupali. “I hope our film sets a trend where films get viewed for their content and make box-office news.” Here is looking forward to the box-office money machine jingling as well.
