INDIA-ENTERTAINMENT-HOLLYWOOD-HEALTH-AMFARThe first amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) Indian Gala was held on Sunday night. amfAR is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment, education and sound AIDS-related public policy. Their fund-raising events range from small cocktail parties to art auctions to full-blown international galas and are always graced by the biggest of names from the film, music and fashion industries.

Hosted by Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachhan, the Indian Gala was attended by several international figures including Sharon Stone, Kenneth Cole, Hilary Swank, Kevin Robert Frost and Cyrus Poonawalla. The evening featured a cocktail reception, dinner, gold-themed fashion show and concluded with a performance by K$sha. Held at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the black-tie event was nothing short of glamorous and we thought we’d capture the best dressed of the night.
Aishwarya, who chose to wear something traditional, looked regal in a white and gold Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla creation paired with gold earrings. Nargis Fakhri also kept accessories minimal with her Abu-Sandeep gown. We love the heavy gold and black mirror-work!
Sushma Reddy and Neeta Ambani chose the black and gold colour scheme as well with ethnic outfits that struck just the right balance of style and elegance.
Stone, who said that she would love to star in a hindi movie, makes the best dressed list with her classic black one-shoulder gown teamed with gold accessories. The thigh-high slit gives her otherwise plain outift that extra boost.
The gold-themed fashion show was of course full of fabulous outfits by some of India’s top designers; Rohit Bal, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Tarun Tahiliani with jewels by Azva, Tarun Tahiliani for Azva, Symetree and Amrapali.
