Mr. Bachchan will carry the world-famous Olympic Torch just after 10:30 at 10.55am on Thursday 26th of July when it makes its way through the London Borough of Southwark.
The actor is part of the relay team that will have legendary personalities from all over the world carry the prestigious torch for 32.7 miles on the last day of the relay before the lighting of the Olympic flame on Friday. Apparently his part of the relay is 300 meters, which he adds will be done at a jog/walk due to his surgery. Apart from Mr. Bachchan, other eminent personalities who will be a part of this event include Lawrence Dallaglio, Lewis Moody, Jim Anderson, Phil Packer, Darren Fitzpatrick and Tom Davis.
The superstar is not the only one giving the Olympics some Indian flavor. Composer A.R. Rahman had earlier announced that he has teamed up with director Danny Boyle, who conceptualized and will direct the opening ceremony on the 27th of July, to compose a track for the event.
“Clarifying the report on the Olympics track I am composing… It’s a track in Punjabi celebrating the Indian influence in the UK. It’s a part of a medley in the Olympics opening ceremony, according to Danny Boyle’s creative wishes!”
It is indeed a proud moment for Indians all over the world.
