Amitabh Bachchan recently cut short a trip to Europe to visit his doctor in Mumbai following a recurrence of the stomach pains that saw him hospitalised last year. “I drove straight to my doctor on arrival late last night and after some external physical examinations was subjected to CT scans,” he explained. “The results do not show anything, but the trouble exists, albeit on a much smaller scale than the last time. I do not think that there is a need for alarm, but I do not want to take chances.”

Despite being 66-years-old, Amitabh continues to work very hard. The movie Zamaanat in which he plays a blind lawyer will be released later this year. A story of unfulfilled love in which Amitabh takes the lead, it also stars Arshad Warsi and Karisma Kapoor. He is also working on Pa, a movie about progeria in which he appears as Abhishek Bachchan’s son and he’s the genie in the fantasy musical Aladin with Riteish Deshmukh and hot newcomer Jacqueline Fernandes.

If that isn’t enough to cause stress and tightening of the stomach wall, Amitabh has also taken on Teen Patti in which Ben Kingsley makes his Bollywood debut, Shoe Bite with Diya Mirza and Rann with Riteish Deshmukh. Finally, work on Kunal Avadana, the epic in which he will play Asoka the Great, has also begun. Perhaps it’s time for Amitabh to consider taking a break?
