From the studios of Bhairavi Jaikishan came a collection that will delight the traditional Indian woman. Called “The Sensuous Woman”, Bhairavi’s line at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 was a range of clothes that luxuriously skimmed the body and flattered the silhouette of the wearer.

Known for her very international look, which she gives cleverly to Indian ensembles, Bhairavi’s forté is her use of embroideries and contemporary treatment.

Using a rainbow of colours, Bhairavi had a stunning bridal collection, which will appeal to the elegant Indian woman who wants to make that show stopping entry anywhere in the world.

Starting with ivory, pale pink, peach, blue, lemon, yellow and then moving on to stronger shades like fuchsia, turquoise, orange, tangerine, rani pink, mango and finally red the visual presentation of the collection was breathtaking with super embroidery created by master craftsmen.

Working around the sari, lehenga, choli, lehenga/sari combo and dupatta, Bhairavi presented myriad permutations and combinations in colours and embellishments using resham, sequins, crystals, gold and silver Zari. The predominant fabric was net while the motif was floral with roses appearing as appliqués, 3D embroidery on broad borders, splashed all over the garments or in pretty bouquets with artistic swirls accompanying the designs.

Cholis were tiny dainty, some with draped bodices while the two very splendid gold corsets worn over the sari pallav opened the show. Ornate silver cummerbunds were added to slim waistlines or hips and
long tantalising tassels edged a red sheer net dupatta with a rich brocade lehenga.

The show stopper was beautiful Amy Jackson, star of the film “Ekk Deewana Tha” who gracefully emerged on the ramp in a magnificent silver lehenga/choli and red dupatta to thunderous applause.

For bridal wear that will make a woman the envy of all, “The Sensuous Woman” collection by Bhairavi Jaikishan was definitely heirloom worthy.
