Ananya Pandey couldn’t be in a happier place. Her wildly popular series Call Me Bae is now heading into Season 2. “I am thankful to Karan Johar for giving me this opportunity . I feel very grateful that a show like Call Me Bae came to because it is the kind of material I’ve grown up watching and my favourite genre which is a mix of chick flick, romance, drama and loads of fun. When Karan spoke to me about the show and then I went on to read the episodes I was completely sold on the fact that even though the genre is so light the show is still really speaking about very important and relevant issues in today’s time.”
Ananya admits Bae is similar to her. “There are many similarities between me and Bae but I think there are more differences in us and that’s why it was so much fun to play her and almost escape into her world where I looked at everything around me in a way that she does. She’s kind to everyone and sees the best in people and never really let’s life get her down and there’s are qualities from her that I try to emulate everyday.”
Ananya is no longer bothered with the trolling. “I’ve realised just to keep my head down and work very very hard at my job and on my craft every single day and hopefully people will like my work and want to see more of me. Over time you tend to develop a thick skin and filter in the important words and voices.”
She admits she is more comfortable with the criticism than she was earlier. “I don’t think I would ever completely be secure and I don’t even want to be because that will take away from the fire of wanting to do and be better. I feel happier in terms of the roles I’m being offered because I feel there’s a lot more to chew on and a lot more scope for me to perform. There’s a long way to go and lot more work to do and I’m so excited for everything that’s coming up.”
