While Anjaana Anjaani is receiving dicey reviews with critics panning the plot and confused characterizations of the lovers played by Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, it seems to be working. Despite the reviews, audiences seem to love Anjaana Anjaani. Irrespective of the reason they seem to be flocking to the cinema halls to watch the film, it is raking in quite a bit of money.
Trade pundits claim that it is the Ranbir Kapoor mania that is taking over the cinema halls. Whether it is North, South, East or West of the country, cinema halls opened close to 100% full. Shows started at 9:00 am in the morning and even those were completely housefull. They also believe that because of the youthful look and casting, the film will continue to do well at the box office and will emerge as a hit of 2010. Despite Anjaana Anjaani opening with Rajnikant’s Robot, which has changed the face of Tamil films forever after it is now seen as the highest grossing Tamil film ever, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer managed to pull in crowds.
It’s the music, the cast and the chemistry that seem to be magnetizing the crowds. Time will tell if Anjaana Anjaani goes on to create more waves at the box office!
