News circulated earlier this year that Hrithik Roshan is to play the leading man in Shekhar Kapur’s forthcoming magnum opus Paani. According to the latest rumours, Anushka Sharma was linked to playing the female lead in this film, which is being produced under Yash Raj Films. However, Bollyspice can confirm that there is no truth to this story at all. This is what an anonymous source stated earlier this week about the casting of Paani. “Yes, Anushka Sharma has been finalized for Shekhar Kapur’s Paani. Hrithik Roshan is the leading man in the film.”
However, despite this report, Shekhar Kapur himself tweeted that there has been no conversations with Anushka regarding his much anticipated film. “Anushka Sharma is an outstanding actress and would love 2 work with her. But there’s been no conversation with her on #Paani,” according to Mr Kapur.
Hence, news on who will be playing the female lead in Paani remains unconfirmed. We will of course bring you the name of the heroine who has been finalised for this film as soon as we find out!
Paani will supposedly be based on a future world where water supply is under the control of international corporations. It is scheduled to release in 2014.
