The megahit of Tollywood and Kollywood this year, Arundhati, is set to be remade in Hindi. Anushka Shetty will be reprising the central role of Arundhati. The completely mind-blowing epic mythological adventure involves sorcery, reincarnation, revenge and tragedy. The sharpness of its editing and electric special effects makes Drona look like a bowl of lumpy custard. The film also starred Sonu Sood and Arjan Bajwa.
Sonu Sood will also be reprising his role as the evil Pasupathi. “I’m excited because we all worked very hard on making the Telugu original something special,” he says, “Lots of producers wanted to remake it in Hindi. But now the original producer has decided to go for it. The Hindi Arundhati will be far more expensive and polished. We start shooting in June,” Sonu is no stranger to Bollywood having featured in movies such as Jodhaa Akar, Singh is Kinng and Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi. He’s also involved in the Dubai-based project City of Life with British actress and Tudors star Natalie Dormer.
After Arundhati, and two good hits in 2008 with Chintakayala Ravi and Souryam, it looks like Anushka Shetty’s fame is assured and she could be the next big thing in Bollywood from Down South. The former yoga instructor and IT-graduate has also caused quite a stir recently with the movie Billa opposite Prabhas.
