Three of Bollywood’s biggest heroines Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta look set to sparkle on screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Heera Mandi, based on the famous red light district of Lahore.
The script has been adapted from Mayank Austen Soofi’s “A Sudden Visit to Pakistan: Heera Mandi The Dream Home of The Whores”, which Bhansali bought the rights to back in July 2007. Initally Rekha, Madhuri Dixit and Shabana Azmi were associated with the project, and later Rani Mukherjee and Sonam Kapoor were also linked to it.
Now with the buzz that Ash, Kareena and Preity have been finalised, it looks as though the once rumoured to be shelved Heera Mandi will finally see the light of day. Ace filmmaker Bhansali, known for trademark lavish staging and elaborate sets in films like Devdas, Black and Saawariya, is all set to go to the floors on Heera Mandi as soon as post production on Hrithik Roshan starrer Guzaarish wraps.
With a star cast like this, an interesting script and a National Award winning director, Heera Mandi is a highly anticipated release, and one to watch out for.
