Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is brilliant at illustrating the Indian past on the big screen. You only have to watch masterpieces like Lagaan (2001) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008) to know that Ashutosh is at his best when he amalgamates history and cinema together. Well for his next directorial venture, Ashutosh will be making another historical epic which will go further back in time. He had this to say to the Indian press: “This time (the story) is based in the Indus Valley Civilisation. It will again be a period film, a love story and it will be made on a large scale.” However, Ashutosh has refrained from talking about who will be starring in his next epic film, as he has yet to finalise everything. “It will be another week before I announce it. It will have an ensemble cast and will be a big budget venture.”

Ashutosh talked about his upcoming project whilst at the Marrakech Film Festival, which has honoured Indian cinema prior to its centenary in 2013. He said that he was overwhelmed with the positive reception amongst Moroccan fans towards Lagaan (which was screened at the festival in 2002) and Jodhaa Akbar (which was screened this year). “I had heard about the response it received at that time as Aamir (Khan) had come to Marrakech back then. Now that I am here with ‘Jodhaa Akbar,’ I want to know what the response is like for this film too.”
