So confident is Asin that Ghajini, her movie with Aamir Khan will be a blockbuster hit, she’s been turning down offers from Bollywood promoters – until the full scale of the movie’s success has become apparent.

Asin’s first big hit came in 2003 with Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, for which she won the Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award. She then won her second Filmfare Award for Ghajini in 2005 which is now being reprised by Aamir. This was followed by another megahit – the comedy Varalaru. She is one hot actress at the moment, also starring in Kamal Hassan’s latest, Dasavatharam, in which he plays 10 different avatars.

Before becoming an actress, she was a part-time model and businesswoman and now lives in Chennai. Asin chose her name from the ‘A’ from Sanskrit and Sin from English. She likes to think it symbolises the combination of east and west – a traditional Indian with a modern European outlook. Her motto in life is ‘Don’t let success enter your head and failure enter your heart’ – not a bad outlook.
