It is a well-known fact that the Bhatts admire and like to work with Pakistani musicians and actors. They have been featured in several of their recent movies: Nazar, Woh Lamhe, Gangster, Kalyug and Zeher.
Now they are taking this to a new level. For their new movie Awarapan the soundtrack is completely filled with tracks by Pakistani singers. Mustafa Zahid, the founder of the famous Pakistani band, Rox3n, sings ‘To Phir Aao’ and ‘Tere Mera Rishta’. Another track ‘Maula Maula,’ is by Rafaqat Ali Khan. And the 22-year old British-Pakistani singer Annie, whose track took Pakistan by storm when it debuted in 2006, recorded the lively ‘Maahiya’, which is fast becoming a favorite with audiences.
They have also shot 2 concept music videos, which are ready to make the audience stand up and take notice. DJ Suketu’s remix of ‘To Phir Aao’, features Mustafa Zahid along with Emraan Hashmi. The video was shot in Hong Kong and is already on the air. Suketu has also remixed Zahid’s other rendition, ‘Tera Mera Rishta’, and that video will be released on the air very soon.
Not only are the songs of Awarapan Pakistani there are also other connections. Shreya Saran who plays Emraan Hashmi’s romantic interest in the film is a Muslim character and her costumes as well as mannerisms were worked on to get them authentic. Not only that, according to producer Bhatt, “We’ve shot the concluding reels in Pakistan, as the story naturally shifts there so we wanted it to be as authentic as possible.”
This will be the first time that a Bhatt production will have a theatrical release in the overseas market. Studio 18 is giving the film an international release on June 29. Mukesh Bhatt said, “Awarapan is our biggest venture till date and we are extremely excited about taking the film international,” stated Mukesh Bhatt.” This is also the first time Emraan Hashmi will be seen overseas.
While we are waiting for the release of Awarapan, it will be interesting to see which of these amazing Pakistani singer’s songs will become the most popular.
So wait and watch and listen and get ready for Awarapan!
