We loved them in Dum Laga Ke Haisha and now Ayushmaan Khurrana and Bhumi Pendarkar are back together for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. We have your first look plus some other cool things at the film that releases on September 1st.
The film is a based on the Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Sadham. The director of both the Tamil version and the new one, RS Prasanna, in an interview about this Hindi version said, “It is an entirely new film with the same basic theme and soul. ‘Spiritual remake’ is the correct word for it.”
Ayushmaan agrees, “It is the rebirth of the same story but the milieu and humour is different. It’s amended to suit Bollywood.”
Bhumi in a recent interview revealed more about the story, “There is no fun in doing a run-of-the-mill love story. If films have the ability to change orthodox mindsets, they why not encourage them. This is wacky. We play a couple who are deeply in love but there is a twist in the tale.”
Both actors are excited to be working together again. “I am glad to feature alongside Bhumi. We are buddies and our chemistry is effortless,” Ayushmann said.
